We hear a lot about the immune system, but we don't know exactly what the immune system does and how it can benefit our health and wellbeing. In this article, I will try to summarize the complex topic of the immune system and identify some helpful tips on how to improve, maintain and get in touch with your own immune system.
First, let's understand the definition of the immune system. The immune system is your matrix of cells, tissues, organs, and all biological processes that defend your organism from diseases, infections, and viruses. It is your defending mechanism against foreign substances happening in your body. The good news is if we take care of our immune system it fights twice as much to protect us. Therefore, it is important to get in touch with your defending mechanism and know how to improve and maintain this phenomenal part of our organism.
Here are 3 important steps to strengthen your immune system:
Move more- It helps the blood flow freely, which promotes cells and substances of the immune system to do their job efficiently. Plus you sleep better and get the dosage of endorphin, and who doesn't like the natural high?! :)
The immune system likes a good healthy balanced diet, so feed the rainbow! - Vegetables, fruits, fish, healthy complex carbs, and lots of fluids. Stay away from processed foods and sugar.
Immune Boosting Supplements and/or Vitamins/Minerals- it is a good idea to talk to your doctor, nutritionist, or dietician for a recommendation on an immune booster or any deficient micronutrients that you need. Usually, overall blood work and mineral tests can identify the deficiency in your organism.
When I consult my clients, I tend to dive deeper into the function of the immune system and ways we can improve. However, the 3 steps mentioned are super important and are the basis for a great friendship between yourself and your own immune system.
